THE owner of a new cheese shop in Colwyn Bay says she is looking forward to "bringing something different" to the Town.

Cheryl Parry, from Tal-y-bont near Dolgarrog, will officially launch the Grate Cheese Deli with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10.30am on Saturday morning.

Recently appointed Mayor Neil Bastow will be on hand at the store located on 34 Seaview Road to officially open it to the public.

Cheryl (below), who previously worked at the Cheese Room Deli in Conwy, says she is now looking forward to her latest challenge.

North Wales Pioneer:

"I think Colwyn Bay needs a shop like this, as it is different to what is already here in the Town," she said.

"I want to be able to promote local produce from all over north Wales and showcase the best of what we have right on our doorstep."

The Grate Cheese Deli offers a wide selection of locally produced, artisan cheeses and deli products, as well as other award-winning products such as vinegars, salt, oils, meringues, gingerbread and so much more.

The produce comes from all across north Wales - with cheeses from big names such as South Caernarfon Creameries being stocked there.

Cheryl held a trial run at the Deli today, where guests were able to pop in and sample some of the products on show.

Jean Davies (first pic below) came from Penmaenmawr to visit the shop, whilst Lynda Massarelli from Blaenau Ffestiniog (second pic) also popped in to have a look around.

"I've had quite a few people come in today, it has been very busy," Cheryl added.

"I'm expecting Saturday to be even better and I can't wait to welcome locals and the Mayor to the Deli.

"This is very much a family-orientated business - my daughter Danikka (27) chose the name of the shop, my twin boys Connor and Jaydon (14) have been helping price things up and cleaning and my husband Richard is helping me set up here too and generally doing everything I don't have time for."

The opening ceremony for Grate Cheese Deli will take place from 10.30am this Saturday (June 8). For more information on the business, visit @gratecheesedeli on Facebook or call 01492 338327.
