MUSICALLY talented Colwyn Bay pupils have had training from a world class opera company.
A group of Rydal Penrhos school’s most talented vocalists and musicians learned at a workshop run by Morgana Warren-Jones, North Wales project manager for the Welsh National Opera.
Shruthi Ganapathi, Bella Rutherford, Megan Gibson, Arthur Hind, Ethan Bytheway, Zahra Shamsi, Amy Yue and Ollie Gibson were among the pupils who attended the workshop, which explored a number of different elements such as stage presence, posture and delivering a strong vocal performance in a pressurised environment.
They were able to question Mrs Warren-Jones about her work and experiences working within the industry.
As a national company with international status, Welsh National Opera Company's gifted opera members sit at the heart of music making in Wales and play a valuable role with various community initiatives throughout the country.
They work with a number of partners to discover and nurture young operatic talent, and provide the springboard for international careers.
Pete Williams, Rydal Penrhos’ director of music, said: “We were thrilled to have Morgana with us for the workshop which benefitted our young performers considerably.
“Events such as this are a fantastic way of getting first-hand experience from a professional.”
