THREE Colwyn Bay pupils at Rydal Penrhos have secured a regional hockey squad selection after a standout campaign.

Ariana Milligan, Eve Durrans and Lily Davies, year eight pupils at Rydal Penrhos school, have been chosen to be part of the North Wales U13 squad after impressing considerably during a trial period.

They will now take part in a series of training sessions with the squad, and the trio will look to make an instant impact with the group at a national competition next month in Nottingham.

This is the latest in a series of notable hockey achievements by Ariana, Eve and Lily, who have been part of the Hockey Wales 360˚ initiative throughout the current campaign.

Each pupil has boosted her skill set considerably as part of the talent development system, which was implemented to help support and develop talented athletes to achieve their potential.

Allen Boyd director of sport, said: “Ariana, Eve and Lily have worked incredibly hard to achieve their respective selections to the North Wales squad, and they are going to benefit tremendously with an increased standard of opposition during the challenges that lie ahead.

“Hopefully they can make an instant impression at July’s national competition in Nottingham.”
