A GIFTED Colwyn Bay artist has secured a notable achievement in a prestigious national competition.

Tallulah Batley, a pupil at Rydal Penrhos, entered the Museum of Modern Art for Wales competition, which shows off the brightest young artistic talent in the country and also holds an exhibition detailing the winning entries later this year.

The newly appointed joint deputy head girl produced a truly incredibly hand painting as part of her contribution to the competition, which drew rave reviews from adjudicators thanks to the detailed nature and overall quality of the piece.

This resulted in Tallulah securing runner-up in the U16 category at the event. She is almost halfway through her A-level art studies,

Sally Ann Harding, Head of Rydal Penrhos senior school, said: “Tallulah is a wonderfully talented individual. The consistently high quality of her work is something that has to be seen to be believed, and Tallulah can be incredibly proud of attaining such a high finish in such a well-respected competition.”
