THEATR Colwyn has something for everyone as we head into the late summer with a s fantastic selection of cinema and live entertainment.

The thriving Theatr Colwyn is very much at the heart of Colwyn Bay, and specialises in live broadcasts from the

National Theatre and the Bristol Old Vic, alongside simply stunning live performances scheduled for its storied stage.

Owned and run by Conwy County Borough Council, it has a dual purpose as a venue for theatre and cinema productions, it also has a photography gallery, Oriel Colwyn.

Paul Simon lovers are in for a treat on Friday, July 5 with Something About Simon to reaffirm why the prolific songwriter has cemented himself in the "hearts and bones" of audiences all over the world.

In The Paul Simon Story, popular Liverpudlian singer-songwriter Gary Edward Jones not only recites the music of one of his idols, but also tells his unique story from Simon and Garfunkel through to Graceland and beyond.

On Sunday 7, Stagecoach Colwyn Bay will play out the week with a youth production of one of the best loved, award winning musicals of all time in Annie Jr.

Aged four to 16, the performers will take audiences on a journey through everyone's favourite little redhead on her very first adventure based on the popular comic strip and adapted from the Tony Award-winning musical.

On the silver screen, July sees an exploration of the beloved author JRR Tokien's formative years in Tolkien from Tuesday 2 until Thursday 4, while Marvel fans can have another bite at the cherry and catch the last true blockbuster Avengers: Endgame on Thursday 11, and marvel at the unprecedented culmination of more than 20 films worth of story telling.

Also screening in July is the adaptation of of Ann Pratchett's best-selling novel, Bel Canto, which stars Julianne Moore as a soprano who travels to a Latin American military dictatorship to perform on Monday 15.

The venue offers a day out for everyone, with July's dementia friendly screening welcoming Chitty Chitty Bang Bang back to the screen on Thursday 18, while later that evening the theatre will look ahead to The Northern Eye International Photography Festival in October with the unique film Gandolfi: Family Business.
