GLITZ, glamour - and a singing dinosaur - the launch of Venue Cymru's upcoming Christmas pantomime had it all.

Despite less the optimal weather conditions greeting the stars of Sleeping Beauty, the incredibly sunny dispositions of Kieran Powell, Nigel Ellacott and a bawdy Sherrie Hewson nevertheless shone through in a unique, Loose Women-esque panel that played to the lead's strengths.

Revelations about Ringo Starr, Harrison Ford and David Schwimmer's charm were just some of the tidbits on offer as the Q and A veered away from panto territory and offered a glimpse of the incredible star power of 15 year 'Loose Woman' Hewson and the supportive, tight knit bond which is clearly already forming with her cast mates.

Speaking to the Journal Hewson, who plays Nurse Temple Savage, said: "It's a joy for me to come back yet again to Llandudno for panto, I'm thrilled to be back for another stint in this wonderful theatre."

The former Coronation Street and Carry on actor Hewson, who is returning to the venue after staring in Benidorm Live in April and is moving back to Conwy in August, also took time to wax lyrical on her love of the Llandudno as well as teasing a few details about the upcoming Benidorm feature film.

Not to be outdone, her friend of many years, and veteran panto dame, Ellacott sashayed ahead of her in a dress formerly owned by Irish entertainer Danny La Rue covered in more than 300 Swarovski crystals.

While it might seem a thankless task of keeping pace with these two fabulous dames -and their impeccable comic timing - Powell more than earned his share of the spotlight with a side splitting act alongside his faithful friend Dave the ‘megasaurus’.

Sleeping Beauty will be at Venue Cymru from Saturday, December 7 until Sunday 29.
