RHYL FC have been handed a tough start as fixtures for the newly named FAW Tier 2 North League were released.

Big things are once again expected of the Lilywhites during what is expected to be another ultra-competitive second tier campaign, which has been further enhanced with the arrivals of Colwyn Bay, Llandudno and Llangefni Town.

Eddie Maurice-Jones’ side open their season on the road at Flint Town United, who finished runners-up behind eventual champions Airbus Broughton last season under former Lilies’ boss Niall McGuinness.

This will be followed by a home tie against newly promoted Cefni on August 24, before the squad come up against another ex-manager in the form of Matthew Jones and Llandudno.

A pivotal early season derby clash with championship favourites Prestatyn Town takes place at the Educate Group Stadium on August 31 to close out the first month of action, with Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochant, Ruthin Town, Llanfair United, Penrhyncoch and Guilsfield all up for the Lilywhites in September.

The festive fixture list will see Rhyl visit the Seasiders’ on December 28, with Llanrhaeadr visiting on New Year’s Day.

Their critical run-in begins with a home clash against Conwy Borough on March 28, and the Lilies’ make the trip to Buckley Town on April 11 in what is another stern test of their credentials.

Porthmadog will be the final visitors to their base on April 14, and Maurice-Jones’ side will conclude their campaign with a notable derby fixtures at fierce rivals Bangor City on April 25.

The Lilywhites’ home clash against the Citizens, who will now remain in the division after having their 42-point deduction halved, is scheduled to take place on November 23.
