PUPILS at a Colwyn Bay have scooped up a medal haul a high-profile regional skiing competition.

The Rydal Penrhos school’s success in the North Wales ski championships concluded an exceptional campaign.

Among the medal winners, year six pupil Fflur Pierce demonstrated her talent on the slopes to come away with gold in the U14 girls’ category, and Xavier Poynton emerged victorious in the U10 registered boys’ event.

Another notable performance came from Cameron Pye, who finished top of the podium in the U12 registered boys’ competition, and this enabled the Rydal Penrhos quartet of Daisy Yates, Fflur, Cameron and Xavier to scoop first place overall in the team category.

Others who achieved medal places were the duo of William Hibbert and Will Glanville who gained second and third respectively in the U12 boys’ event.

Rounding off the achievements was Amber England-Bryant, who picked up a bronze medal in a very competitive U12 girls’ category.

Alison Hind, head of the prep school, said: “This was another exceptional performance from our skiing team, which has committed itself superbly to secure some notable results over the academic year.

“They can all be enormously proud of their efforts in a competitive environment, and hopefully this is a trend that can continue long into the future.”
