STRESSED out young professionals, social media savvy graduates and busy young parents are being given the chance to explore Welsh history.

CADW has organised a special activity programme aimed at 'millennials'.

The castles, abbeys and historic houses of north Wales are coming alive with a range of contemporary activities.

It is hoped the 'Instagrammable' programme 'Medieval meets Modern' will attract more people from the generation born between the 1980s - 2000s.

The summer events are all part of Cadw’s Rediscover History campaign.

It hopes to shine a modern light on Welsh history and provide new ways for young people to experience heritage in Wales’s 2019 Year of Discovery.

Events include a session to help people get 'festival ready' by crafting floral crowns.

Flower lovers and music festival goers alike are invited to attend one of two Fizz and Flowers sessions on at Plas Mawr. Event goers will learn how to craft floral wreaths using seasonal blooms with a glass of fizz. Alcohol-free drinks are also available.

It is on at Plas Mawr, Conwy, tomorrow (Saturday, July 13) and also Saturday, July, 27, from 6pm – 9pm.

Britain’s finest Elizabethan town house will come alive with the sounds of the harp and the flute with a performance by Elin Wyn Roberts and Helen Wyn Pari, of the Eleni Duo.

It will be a refined evening of music and history within the atmospheric surroundings of Plas Mawr.

The event is on tonight (Friday, July 12) from 6.30pm – 8pm

An evening of wine, canapes and medieval entertainment is on at Conwy Castle.

Visitors are invited to enjoy fizz and canapes within the grounds of the World Heritage Site this August.

Hosted by Conwy Council, event-goers can taste wine from the local vineyard, and enjoy a guided site tour complete with stunning night-time views across the town.

There will also be an opportunity to pick a side and watch as medieval knights show off their sword-fighting skills in the central courtyard.

Following the entertainment, the event will end at a nearby tavern, where guests can taste local Welsh ale.

It is on at Conwy Castle, on Thursday, August 22, at

6:30pm-9:30pm.

You can brush up on your archery skills at Caernarfon Castle. Visitors will be will be transported back to a medieval as Red Dragon Archery Club descend on the fortress.

Visitors will use a bow and arrow to defend the castle against attack and the garrison’s fine ladies will be on hand to discuss medieval food and herbal remedies.

It is on at Caernarfon Castle, on Saturday, July 20, from 11am – 3:30pm.

Harlech Castle is in search of a new garrison of medieval knights. Prospective knights will attend Ardudwy’s knight school for a day of battle, combat and defence training.

The event is at Harlech Castle — Tuesday, July 23 and Tuesday, July 30, from 9:30am — 4:30pm.

There is a chance to fool around with knights and jesters. Visit Conwy Castle for a day of fun and games led by the comical town Jester. Tales will be told of times gone by and spells will be cast at the magical wand workshop.

New recruits will also be trained to be a knight in combat, with sword fighting lessons and have-a-go archery sessions. It is on at Conwy Castle, on Friday, July 26, from 10am — 4pm.

There is a chance to help the Princes Retinue, a medieval re-enactment group, defend Denbigh Castle from attack.

Combat-ready visitors will be treated to a host of warfare and living history displays.

Have-a-go archery will be on offer throughout the day for any trainee warriors.

It is on at Denbigh Castle on Saturday, July27 - Sunday, July 28, from 10am — 4pm.

Watch battle commence at Rhuddlan Castle. It is set to come alive with cannon fire and clashing swords. Younger visitors are encouraged to join knights training to defend the castle.

There is a Legends Live! event at Harlech Castle on Wednesday, July 31 and Thursday, August 1, from 11am – 4pm.
