Talented sailors compete at National Championships

A talented group of sailors from Llandudno Sailing Club has secured solid results at the Welsh youth and junior sailing championships.

Thirteen young sailors from Llandudno sailing club competed in the event, which is one of the highlights of the Welsh sailing programme.

The championships, which took place at the Welsh National Sailing Academy in Pwllheli, played host to over eighty of Wales’ most promising sailors. The event provided competitive sailing across a number of classes for sailors up to the age of 19.

The sailors competed in some challenging conditions with very light winds on day one and some choppy seas on day two.

Accomplished sailors Ewan Luke and Zac Blomeley led the 29er’s throughout the event to finish at the top of the podium, while in the Topper fleet Llion Morris had an impressive day and finished first. Freddie MacLaverty and Kiera Luke finished second in the Feva class and eighth overall, an impressive result.

The sailors are now looking forward to a summer of national and International events. Event Information.
