CONWY’s annual River Festival brings two weekends of salty fun for sailors and landlubbers alike.

The festival offers an array of water-based activities plus shoreside entertainment for all the family.

The fun begins with the Quay Day and Conwy RNLI day and sail racing on Saturday July 20, with racing continuing on Sunday 21, and continuous the following weekend.

A variety of social events take place throughout the River Festival. The main events are the prize giving on each race day with the main prize giving on the second Sunday, as well as nautically themed events and entertainment on Quay Day,

The events include a fancy dress competition for the kids, a treasure hunt, clowns and rides, the great duck race and a variety of other attractions.

In addition, smaller social events take place at the race briefings and La La rally briefings.

Also this year there will be canoe races, rowing races and jetski rides in the harbour throughout the Quay Day afternoon.

The sail racing will be open to all classes and skill levels. The lightweight speedy racers, standard cruising yachts, heavy Morecambe Bay prawners, traditional gaff rigged yachts as well as a variety of day boats including the Conway One Designs will all be competing.

The day boats, including Conway One Designs will be on the river wowing the spectators on the quay on Saturday 20th and again on Sunday. In the afternoon they will be joined by the cruiser racers, prawners, gaff rigged yachts and powerboats for an extravagant parade of sail.

The famous La La rally for sailing yachts and power boats is a two day sail to Menai Bridge and back on Friday 26 and Saturday 27.There are tasks and activities which will test boat handling skills, to be completed en route with many prizes on offer.

The Conwy River Festival started in 1993 as a celebration of the relationship between the historic town of Conwy and its majestic river estuary.
