LLANDUDNO’s Ysgol y Gogarth has become an official eCadet school
The eCadet programme trains, empowers and supports a team of pupils to keep their friends safe online. The eCadets learn about internet safety, gaming, and social media and complete projects which help teach friends, teachers and parents how to stay safe.
Over the last 18 months Ysgol Y Gogarth pupils have been working towards the bronze digital citizenship and online safety awards. They have taken part in nine projects where they have written a e-safety rap, presented in assembly and even designed #e-safety icing for cakes sold on the ICT stand at our school fair.
Hannah Midgley eCadet coordinator said: “It’s been a rewarding year facilitating the eCadets, supporting them in developing essential e-safety skills and advice. The peer to peer learning has encouraged our pupils to use their creativity and innovation to target e-safety towards their friends, teachers and parents.”
One pupil said: “We choose to become an eCadets because we want to learn and teach our friends about staying safe online.” Another pupil added the reason for joining the programme is: “Because it’s so cool and fun, it’s the best being a eCadet”.
