POLICE are urging residents to remain vigilant following recent burglaries from dwellings.

Inspector Steve Owens, of the South Flintshire policing team, said an unoccupied property in Crossways, Penymynydd, was broken into between 10pm and 10am on July 14.

Entry was gained through the rear door and low value extension cables were taken.

Inspector Owens said a burglary also took place on July 13 at Ewart Street, Saltney.

He added: “A neighbour reported that an unoccupied address had been accessed and persons seen inside at 11pm.

“It seems the previous owners who had been evicted had gained access to recover some property.

“The evicted person was claiming squatters’ rights and was referred to Flintshire County Council housing for alternative accommodation.”
