A ZOO has a full programme of events planned this Summer.

Between July 22 and September 1, The Welsh Mountain Zoo will be hosting animal awareness days focusing on the tiger, lizard and owl. These are set to include craft and activities, as well as keeper talks and trails.

A full week of all things creepy crawly will take place from August 5 until 11 as part of the BIAZA Big Bug Bonanza.

There will be a guest visit by Coconut the monkey during the bank holiday weekend.

North Wales Pioneer:

Get up close to the Lemurs

Budding zoologists can get a taste of zoo life by taking part in the unique WILD Ranger experience.

This two day course, which has to be pre-booked, allows children aged seven to 12 to explore the zoo, get up close with some of the animals, whilst investigating the natural world.

Children will work with the zoo’s education, gardens and keeping team to experience hands-on activities and games.

Marcia Azevedo Moreira, marketing and sales manager of the Welsh Mountain Zoo, said: "We have planned tonnes of exciting events and activities across the Summer break, focusing on specific events, animals and topics.

"The Summer is naturally the busiest time of the year for us and we have introduced something new practically every day to ensure our visitors benefit from the best experience possible."
