A century partnership between Sam Rimmington and Luke Kenworthy paved the way for Llandudno's high-scoring victory over Brymbo in the Premier Division of the North Wales League.

Rimmington hit 88 and Kenworthy scored 70 as the pair added 148 for the third wicket to take Llandudno to 252 for six in a rain-reduced 40 overs.

Brymbo made a good start to their reply but the innings faded away after opener Gareth Pugh was out for 87 and the home side finished on 232 for nine.

This win leaves Llandudno 20 points adrift of leaders Bangor who edged out second-placed Menai Bridge and their cause was helped when third-placed Mochdre lost to Pwllheli.

Llandudno did not get off to the best of starts losing Matthew Jones for 1 but Danial Evans scored 33 and then Rimmington, with three sixes and eight fours, and Kenworthy whose 49-ball knock include three sixes and eight fours took over in a stand of 148.

Ethan Hill (27) and Matt Lambe (18 not out) added useful runs in the closing overs of the innings as Llandudno set a formidable target.

At 107 for one and 198 for four Brymbo looked in with a chance but Pugh's dismissal - bowled by Jack Rimmington - signalled the beginning of the end.

The lower-order batsmen could not keep up with the run rate and Evans was the most successful Llandudno bowled with three for 42 with the rest of the wickets shared by the bowlers.

Llandudno are back at the Oval next Saturday where take on Menai Bridge in a game they must win to keep up their title challenge.
