Police who came across two women arguing about drugs in a Llandudno street late at night found one had a lock knife in her coat pocket, a court heard on Wednesday

Jody Lea, 34, unemployed, of Ffordd yr Orsedd, Llandudno, was jailed for six months by the town's magistrates.

Defence solicitor Graham Parry said there was no brandishing of the knife. He suggested she was "a very vulnerable lady".

Court chairwoman Hilary Owen told Lea, who admitted possessing a knife on July 4: "The offence is so serious only a custodial sentence can be justified in view of your previous conviction for a knife crime and failure to comply with court orders."

Prosecutor James Neary said in 2010 she was dealt with at Liverpool crown court for an identical offence.

She claimed to police she didn't know she had the knife with her. She was making her way to a cash machine at Asda.

Mr Parry said she had been introduced to drugs by an ex-partner.
