RHYL lifeboat volunteers have been offering assistance at Toddbrook Reservoir in Whaley Bridge.

Callum Robinson, crew member from Rhyl RNLI station, is one of the team who have been tasked.

Helpers also include volunteers from Rhyl, Conwy, Beaumaris, Aberdovey, Aberystwyth, Porthcawl, Angle and Barry Dock.

Members are offering assistance as part of their roles with the RNLI’s Flood Rescue Team.

Terry Webb, RNLI Flood Rescue Command Member Terry Webb, said: 'The RNLI is part of a multi-agency response offering assistance at Toddbrook Reservoir. We have a two teams of trained volunteers working on a shift pattern 24/7.

"Our teams have been providing support to the high volume pumping teams, safety cover and other activities required of us as part of the response plan."

Volunteers from the South West, the East Coast and from North and South Wales were deployed at around 10.30am on Sunday, August 4 and were requested to support Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service have also lent their support.

Stuart Millington, senior operations manager, said: “We are providing support of two boat crews as part of a coordinated National Resilience response to the incident at Whaley Bridge Dam in Derbyshire. One crew is from Bangor and one from Deeside.

"This has not affected operational cover here in North Wales. We have plans in place to ensure that we have resources available to respond to incident should the need arise."
