A PENSIONER stopped for driving suspiciously slowly was found to be well over the drink-drive limit, a court heard.

Magistrates in Llandudno were told that Joy Pyatt, was seen travelling at about 15mph in Penrhyn Avenue, Rhos-on-Sea, on August 3.

The 73-year-old was found to have 64 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35.

Pyatt, of Penrhyn Park, Rhos-on-Sea, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol and was banned from driving for three years.

She had a previous conviction in 2012.

She was also fined £150 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £32 surcharge.

Alex Fitzgerald, defending, said Pyatt was “mortified” to appear in court but had had “a pretty traumatic 18 months”.

Pyatt, he said, also cared for an elderly neighbour who sometimes called her out in the middle of the night and she suffered from insomnia.
