TWO talented sailing stars at a Colwyn Bay school added to their list of achievements with a high finish at a prestigious national competition.

Ewan Luke and Zac Blomeley pupils at Rydal Penrhos, took their place in a supremely talented field at the 29er UK National Championship/Eurocup event, at the Plas Heli, Welsh National Sailing Academy in Pwllheli.

The duo were at the top of their game throughout the high profile competition, which featured 12 races to determine the overall victor.

After a hugely competitive few days of action, Ewan and Zac secured a notable podium finish, winning a silver medal.

This is the latest in a series of fine achievements from the team as they continue to enhance their reputation as one of the brightest young pairs anywhere in the country.

Ewan and Zac were exceptional ambassadors for Rydal Penrhos’ RYA accredited sailing programme, securing regional, national and international success and emerging as tremendous role models for younger pupils looking to follow in their footsteps.

Sally Ann Harding senior school head, said: “Ewan and Zac raised the profile of our sailing in an enormously positive way, and this result is further proof of how much they have developed under specialist coaching staff at Rydal Penrhos and their ability to perform well on the big stage.”
