LLYSFAEN secured their second straight win to start the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Division One season with a 2-0 home success over Llanfairfechan Town Reserves.

The title contenders produced another polished display to emerge with three points, and a scoreless first half was brought to life after the break when Jake Reynolds broke clear from his marker and diverted an opportunity to open the scoring on 55 minutes.

They did have to withstand some pressure from their spirited opponents midway through the half, but the hosts weathered the storm and secured their triumph on 83 minutes when a chance was presented to Nathan Russell, who made no mistake with the finish to complete the scoring.

Another to extend their 100 per cent opening to the campaign were Machno United, who turned in an exceptional attacking display during their 5-2 home win over Llandudno Amateurs Reserves.

Dion Lloyd was in clinical mood throughout the contest and managed to secure a brace as a result of his efforts, with Damien Eyre, Rhidian Williams and Seb Owen also on target in an impressive display.

Last year’s runners-up Henllan finally kick-started their campaign with an emphatic 6-0 home victory over Rhyl All Stars.

Two goals within the opening ten minutes from Fran Roberts got the home side off to the best possible start, and a Kieran Kendrick strike with 22 on the clock all-but sealed three points despite the contest being in its relative infancy.

There was further cause for celebration after the break, with an Alex Thomas brace and a solitary Liam Davies effort completing the rout.
