A Llandudno man headbutted the licensee of a pub where his girlfriend worked who tried to eject him from the premises.

Magistrates in the town were told that Nicky Allen didn’t know he had been barred from the Cross Keys in Madoc Street.

When he entered the premises on May 4 landlord Gareth Davies was called and Allen was asked several times to leave, but said he wanted to finish his pint.

He then headbutted Mr Davies, injuring his nose, and was arrested.

Allen, of Arundel Mansions, Llewelyn Avenue, had originally denied assault but changed his plea on the day of the trial.

His solicitor, Deborah Tennant-Davies, said he didn’t know he was banned from the pub, where his girlfriend worked, but he should have left when asked.

Allen was ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work and to attend a 20-day rehabilitation course as part of a 12-month community order.

He must also pay Mr Davies £200 in compensation, as well as court costs of £400 and an £85 surcharge.

The Bench made an exclusion order barring him from the Cross Keys for 12 months.
