TRANSPORT for Wales has apologised for problems on its site as people try to reapply for their bus pass.

It was reported on Wednesday of compulsory changes to pensioner's bus passes were coming in to effect and that re-applications for them on the organisation's site had opened.

However, Transport for Wales has said sheer volume of traffic to its site has caused the webpage to crash.

A statement on Transport for Wales' website said: "We’re experiencing an exceptionally high volume of hits to our new Concessionary Travel Card site. Due to these high volumes, we know that some of you are experiencing problems in accessing our new website.

"To help with this, we’re planning on taking down the new website now so that we can boost the capacity to better manage the very high volumes.

"Please bear with us – we’ll be back up and running shortly. Your current pass is still valid and will continue to be accepted for travel until 31 December 2019."

If you would like to order a paper copy of the application, or find out where local support if available, please call 0300 303 4240.
