AN EVENING of music by Cor Alaw has been organised to raise funds for Guide Dogs Cymru.
Conwy and District Guide Dogs has arranged the concert At St. David's Church, Penrhyn Bay, starting at 7pm on Friday September 20.
Admission will be free and refreshments will be served during the interval. Audience members are invited to make a donation towards the work of Guide Dogs.
It costs £56,800 to support a guide dog from birth to retirement, and the charity relies on donations to continue its life-changing work. Funds raised at the concert will help to create local partnerships such as Ricki Owen of Colwyn Bay and his guide dog Barney, a black labrador retriever.
Ricki said: “For me, having a guide dog means three things: freedom, independence and confidence. It’s the freedom to know that I can put on the dog’s harness and set off safely.
“The independence means I can carry out daily tasks like shopping, banking and travelling independently, thanks to the training we were given by Guide Dogs; and the confidence has given me new experiences, and travel to new places and events.”
