THE Station pub in Colwyn Bay is to reopen this weekend as a sports and entertainment bar.

The pub, which is now owned by the Craft Union Pub Company, has been closed for refurbishment.

A spokesperson for the company said: “We are very excited to have taken over The Station pub and we are making every effort to reopen for this weekend. We’re delighted that the manager, Neil Wolmarans, will continue to work with us at the pub moving forwards.

“The Craft Union Pub Company aims to be the pub of choice for locals to meet up and watch their favourite sports. These pubs are generally smaller with no food offering, but have excellent audio visual equipment, with sports and entertainment being footfall drivers.

“We have plans to invest in the pub, and we’re currently working with the local conservation officer to ensure any proposed renovation work is sensitive to the property and ensures the characteristics of the pub are retained.

“Our philosophy at Craft Union is to put brilliant pubs back at the heart of local communities. We are looking forward to welcoming locals back into The Station pub and we are totally committed to retaining its character and atmosphere while adding a new sports and entertainment offer, in line with our belief that the British pub plays a vital role in the lives of its customers.”

The spokesperson was unable to confirm whether the existing staff, other than the manager, would be employed in the reopened pub.
