LLANDUDNO inshore lifeboat was launched to aid a kayaker apparently fin difficulties off Craig-y-Don.

Multiple 999 calls had been made to Holyhead Coastguard, reporting that the kayaker was in difficulty approximately half a mile north of Llandudno Lifeboat Station last Sunday.

An RNLI spokesman said: “With the casualty being closely observed by Llandudno Coastguard rescue team, the inshore lifeboat was launched and proceeded to the kayak’s position to find the lone occupant was at anchor and fishing but drifting to the east due to the poor conditions on scene that were deteriorating quickly.

“After a brief discussion it was decided the safest option was for the kayaker to make his way ashore with the lifeboat following closely behind in case of any issues.”
