COLEG Llandrillo’s engineering and enhanced IT students have attended a masterclass in 3D printing.

The class was given by Ian Watson by the managing director of award winning Mark 3D UK Limited, who gave an in-depth presentation on plastic, composite and metal 3D printing.

The session included a demonstration on the 3D printing of a bicycle brake lever, which was completed by the end of the session.

Mr Watson went into great detail to explain how metal components can be created using 3D printers, providing students and staff with an invaluable insight into this innovative technology.

Pauline Craig, at tutor at Coleg Llandrillo, said: “Engineering staff and students were very grateful to Ian for taking time out of his busy schedule to share his extensive knowledge on 3D printing. It was an illuminating talk which will benefit our students immeasurably when they enter the world of engineering.”
