WORK is progressing on Conwy’s new cultural centre and it hoped its library and café will open to the public before the end of the year.
A formal public opening of the building near Conwy County Borough's offices at Bodlondeb and close to the town walls is expected in the spring. A Conwy council spokesperson said: “Work on the sensory garden and landscaping is taking place, and the building’s systems are being commissioned. Its fitting out will then take place, including installation of bookshelves, library furniture, work on the exhibition area and the café.
The spokesperson added: “The library service will then be able to move its stock into the building, with the aim of opening the library and café to the public before the end of the year. The formal official opening is expected to take place in the spring.”
In addition to the library and cafe, the building will include the county archives, a heritage hub, and an arts and community space. A big part of the centre’s activities will focus upon providing opportunities to experience heritage through the arts.
