WORK will soon begin on a 42-home plan after the development was given the green light.

Macbryde Homes has confirmed that work will start on the new housing development, situated on Dolwen Road, Old Colwyn, in the coming weeks.

The approved plans outline how the development, to be called Parc Elian, will be a mix of two and three-bedroom semi-detached homes and three and four-bedroom detached properties.

It is hoped the homes will be 'particularly attractive' to first-time buyers, young professionals and growing families.

A total of 20 per cent of the homes will be designated as affordable.

Simon Finlay, head of development at Macbryde Homes, said: “The mix of homes that Parc Elian will be comprised of, means that it should appeal to a significant number of local purchasers. Our other developments across the region have been hugely popular with first-time buyers and young professionals so we appreciate the huge demand that continues to exist for these homes.”

The new development is expected to support 130 jobs in the community.

An on-site equipped play area and improvements to off-site open public space will be financed by the developer.

A financial contribution has also been made towards improvements to the highways network.

The properties will be two-stories high and have been designed to sit comfortably within the context of the local built environment.

Landscaping will be focused on a mix of ornamental plants and native species to encourage local wildlife to forage.

Enabling works will commence shortly, with a full site start anticipated in January. The sales launch will follow early in the New Year.
