RHYL and District’s unbeaten start to the Specsavers National League Division Two North season continued with a dominant 39-0 win at Bangor.
The Dragons’ produced another superb performance littered with genuine quality to come away with the bonus-point success against their fierce rivals, with a blistering first half display playing a leading role in their overall success.
A stunning opening to the contest saw the visitors go into the break with a commanding 34-point cushion with Will Morris leading the way with an exceptional brace.
This trend continued throughout the first half, which resulted in James Fisher-Jones, Ethan Woodfine, Reeve Wright and Jack Hughes all manage to cross the white wash in quick succession, and Richie Williams kept the score-board ticking along with two successful conversion attempts.
After the break saw the tempo drop considerably given the points differential, which was thanks in no small part to some much-improved defence from the home side.
The Dragons’ did manage to secure one more score during the second half, which arrived thanks to a nice individual run from scrum-half Ian Marshall, which went unconverted, to complete the scoring.
A sterner test awaits the league leaders this Saturday when they welcome a formidable Wrexham side to their Tynewydd base.
There was further cause for celebration as the Dragons’ youth side managed to secure a 10-0 home victory over Wrexham youth thanks to a pair of second half scores from Oliver Stanley and George Jones.
Rhyl and District’s second squad were no match for pacesetters Llandudno, succumbing to a 41-8 reverse on home soil.
