SHOPPERS in Mold received a welcome surprise after seeing the festive cheer spread across the town.

Mayor of Mold Tim Maunders dressed as a giant turkey along with Clerk Ian Jones dressed as Santa, Cllr Gareth Williams as an Elf and Joanne Douglas as Santa Dash.

The group visited independent businesses along the high street and aimed to spread the festive cheer whilst also promoting the forthcoming festive events.

The Mold Mayor said: "It's Christmas. You've got to have a bit of fun, that's what Christmas is about - smiling and being nice. It's a special time of year."

Santa and his crew handed out leaflets in the town to remind people of the Santa Dash on December 8 and festive market on December 1 and other events available in the town.

Jane Evans, Events and Community Engagement Officer added: "It is to spread the festive cheer and promoting what Mold has to offer and to make everyone laugh."
