FOOTBALL clubs have shown the red card to domestic violence.
Brickfield Rangers Under-15's showed their support along with other football and sports clubs in the Wrexham area, for White Ribbon Day which is held every year in November.
By wearing the White Ribbon they pledge that they would never commit, condone or stay silent about domestic abuse and violence against women and girls.
White Ribbon UK was founded in 2005 and is part of the global movement to end male violence against women.
It works with men and boys to challenge ideas, stereotypes and cultures, that lead to harassment, abuse and violence.
Jo Hammond, from The Domestic Abuse Safety Unit (DASU) in Wrexham, has led the White Ribbon campaign in order to bring awareness.
She said: "White Ribbon Day is so important as it highlights that there is still so much that needs to change if we are to bring down the shocking numbers of people impacted by violence and abuse.
"We work directly with victims every day and we see first-hand the far reaching affect this has on individuals, families and whole communities. We are thrilled that local sporting clubs have come on board, become actively involved and taken the pledge to end violence against women and girls."
