PEOPLE in Conwy and Denbighshire can play Kris Kringle for some of the most vulnerable and isolated people in the community this Christmas.

Now in its fifth year, Home Instead Care Conwy and Denbighshire's 'Be a Santa for a Senior' campaign is seeking donations of presents to share with elderly residents living with dementia.

Last year, the campaign gave more than 1, 100 and this year organiser Lucie Williams will be working alongside the British Red Cross, Re Engage – formerly Contact The Elderly, Age Connect and North Wales Fire and Rescue, who will help deliver gifts and perform fire safety checks at home addresses of recipients.

Lucie Williams, Home Instead community relations and recruitment manager, said: "Over the years , our visits to older people whilst delivering present have seen us, not only have meaningful conversations, but we’ve changed light bulbs, popped to the shops for batteries for tv remote, made many cups of teas and even nip to the chippy - as well as give lots of hugs.

"I’m very fortune to love my job, but driving Be A Santa To A Senior is the high light of my year, it really does focus on the true meaning of Christmas and brings people together."

As well as visiting isolate residents at home, last year volunteers visited Glan Clwyd Hospital and Abergele Hospital.

To make a donation - including gift wrapping supplies - up until Monday, December 9, there are drop off points at Coed Pella Council Buildings in Colwyn Bay, Cartrefi Conwy and Tesco in Abergele, the Disability Resource Centre in Bodelwyddan and the Nova Centre in Prestatyn.
