ALL are welcome to join in with some festive cheer at an event being held at the University of Chester’s Kingsway Campus.

The final year students studying Photography, Graphic Design, Fine Art, Interior Design and Product Design at the campus are holding events to raise money towards the end of year show in June, 2020.

They have already started their efforts with a Halloween print sale in the department’s new CASC Gallery space in the Forum Shopping Centre and a day joining other independent craft makers at the MAKE Winter Arkade in Liverpool, where they sold a variety of items including Christmas cards, decorations, tote bags and t-shirts with some featuring designs by the students themselves.

The community Christmas Fair today, will take place from 3.30pm to 7.30pm. The students hope to not only raise funds but also meet and greet some of the residents in the surrounding area. The afternoon will feature Santa Claus, refreshments, mulled wine, mince pies, Carol singing, games, silent auction, raffle and a tombola.

Organiser Sarah Thornton, who is studying Photography, said: “We're excited to be hosting the fair at Kingsway Campus, it's not just about the fundraising, it is also about bringing the Kingsway community together. We're looking forward to meeting people from outside the university and sharing our community spirit.”

Fellow organiser Andrea Harding, who is studying Fine Art, said: “There will be stalls, performing arts, friendly competitions and something for everyone to enjoy. It should be a great event for all.”

For those wishing to prolong the festivities, the fun will continue at a fundraising gig organised by students at Ye Olde Custom House on Watergate Street from 9pm.
