TWO drivers were taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash on the A4244 at Penisarwaun.

The female driver of a Nissan Almera and the male driver of a Kia Niro were taken to the Royal Stoke hospital.

North Wales Police had been advised by the Ambulance service of a serious two vehicle road traffic collision near the Jesse James Bunkhouse, involving the two cars, at 6.45pm on Monday.

Police are now appealing for witnesses, in particular anybody with dash cam footage.

Sergeant Meurig Jones of the Roads Policing Unit is keen to hear from anybody who may have been travelling on the A4244 at the time of the collision and is asking them to contact officers.

He said: “We are appealing to anybody who may have witnessed the collision, or the moments leading up to the collision to come forward.

"In particular, we would like to hear from anyone who saw the manner of driving of the Nissan Almera that was travelling from the direction of the A4086 at Cwm Y Glo.

“I would like to thank the travelling public for their patience as this incident caused significant disruption in the area.”

Anybody who can assist the ongoing investigation is asked to contact officers at the Roads Policing Unit on 101 quoting reference number X177412.

Firecrews from the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said they were also called to the RTA at 6.38pm on Monday.
