CONSTRUCTION work on a Colwyn Bay school’s swimming pool’s refurbishment has been completed, and it is ready to be filled with water.

Rydal Penrhos’ estates team, led by manager Richard Smith, has been working tirelessly throughout the summer and autumn on the £150,000 project, and they turn the taps on this week.

The swimming pool was originally opened more than 50 years ago.

This process will take four days and the water level will rise half an inch per hour. The next step will be to bring the water to temperature and install of new chemical pumps. These will then treat the water to comply with health and safety standards before the pool can be used, which will be after the Christmas break.

Head of physical education Nicky Head, said: “Once the pool is safe to enter our staff will receive training and in the New Year we will have a new pool and an exciting new swimming programme to offer all of our pupils.
