A COLLEGE has been praised for continuing to improve environmental performance.

Coleg Cambria has recently started a programme of installing charging points for electric vehicles on all sites.

These will be available to visitors as well as staff and students, but also a position will be created with priority use for disabled users.

Cllr Paul Shotton, of Connah's Quay, said he was pleased Deeside was the first site to have the points installed.

He told the Leader: "I'm pleased.

"I have been working on it for a while. I had enquires from disabled residents about the number of electric vehicle charging points in the area.

"After making enquires myself, Coleg Cambria responded positively. Along with allowing visitors to use their facility, they are also in the process of putting priority use marking for disabled users.

"To find the college is being so positive and making it available is really pleasing."

Steve Jackson, deputy CEO added: "As part of our commitment to continuously improve our environmental performance and become a low carbon organization, we have recently begun a programme of installing electric vehicle charging points at all of our sites supported through the Workplace Charging Scheme.

"The first points have been installed at our Deeside site which include creating a position with priority use for disabled users with additional markings and signage.

"In addition to college and staff use visitors to the college may also use these facilities. The programme will be rolled out across all sites in the near future."
