Coleg Llandrillo’s Art and Design students, who produced a series of graphic illustrations for two charities that support a local hospital’s eye unit earlier this year, have now produced a calendar to raise yet more funds for the unit.

The Eyesight Calendar 2020’ is now on sale, featuring a wide range of illustrations produced by the Rhos-on-Sea-based Foundation Art & Design students.

Funds raised from the sale of the 2020 calendars will go directly to the unit.

The Eyesight charity was originally set up to raise money to support Abergele Hospital’s Stanley Eye Unit so it could fund items of equipment and training courses, appropriate to the unit.

The hospital’s eye unit cares for 40,000 patients, and undertakes 6,000 surgical procedures a year!

The students and staff recently met up with Arthur Airey, chief fundraiser from the Stanley Eye Unit at Abergele Hospital, to present him with the first copy of the official Eyesight calendar for next year. Arthur initially approached the staff and students at Coleg Llandrillo, asking if they could produce images for the calendar.

Mr Airey said: “The board and myself were delighted when we heard that the students had agreed to produce this year’s charity calendar. The finished articles are extremely impressive, highlighting a variety of artistic techniques, and have already garnered positive comments from many people.”

The Foundation Studies Art and Design course leader, Amanda Hamilton-Williams, said: “The students enjoyed working to the brief and were happy to support the charity which does a wonderful job supporting the hospital’s eye unit.”

Robin Williams, Creative Arts programme manager at Coleg Llandrillo said: “We have been delighted to work with Arthur and his charities and we also welcomed the opportunity for our students to work positively with the community in a professional creative context.”

Eyesight 2020 calendars are only £6.99 each. For further details, and to purchase the calendar, please contact Eyesight via their website:
