A CHRISTMAS themed run has taken place in memory of a dad who died at Conwy Park Run.

Robert Porter collapsed and died in the event - held at the RSPB nature reserve in Llandudno Junction - on December 14.

On Saturday, December 21, Mr Porter's son Mike led the way dressed in his father's Santa suit.

His daughters, family, friends and individuals also lent their support and celebrated Mr Porter's life by too donning their Santa outfits, festive hats or tinsel.

It is believed there were mince pies and chocolates at the finish line.

Speaking at the time of Mr Porter's death, A spokesperson for Parkrun said: "It is with great sadness that we report that our fellow parkrunner, Rob Porter, died on Saturday [December 14]. Many of you will know that Rob collapsed at the parkrun. He was immediately attended to by parkrunners at the scene and received the best possible care from nursing and medically qualified parkrunners, by the Welsh Ambulance Service, and the attendance of the Welsh Air Ambulance.

"Sadly, Rob never recovered and passed away at parkrun.

"Our thoughts are with Rob’s family and friends at this very difficult time.

"Many runners stopped and helped and the parkrun team would like to thank each and everyone involved for their help and support.

"In particular, we wish to thank the two doctors and the paramedic who stopped to help him, and our own volunteer, John Hatton who assisted them.

"Many fellow runners have made enquiries about Rob through the parkrun office and social media in the last couple of days and we hope you will understand our wish to respect the privacy of the family at this difficult time before making this announcement."
