A SERVICE will be held to welcome a new priest.

On Sunday, January 19, the Rev’d David Lewis will be welcomed as the new priest for the communities of Llanasa, Trelawnyd, Gronant and Ffynnongroyw, and as the Mission Area Leader for Bryn a Môr.

The service will be led by the Bishop of St Asaph, Rt Revd Gregory Cameron and Archdeacon Andy Grimwood in the Church of Ss Asaph and Cyndeyrn, Llanasa.

Mr Lewis, who was born and raised in Prestatyn, moves from Rhos on Sea to take up his new post.

Bishop Gregory said: “David will bring many pastoral gifts to his leadership of the church communities in the Bryn a Môr Mission Area and to the collaborative ministry being offered there by the team of lay people and clergy.”

Mr Lewis, who is married to Sue, said, ‘I am so happy to have been appointed to the Mission Area.

“My family has had strong links to the area and it is a privilege to return to my home area in these roles.”

“Sue and I very much look forward to getting to know people and sharing in the opportunities to minister together.’

David read History and American Studies at Keele University. He was ordained in St Asaph Cathedral in 1990 and has served his whole ministry in North Wales.

His particular interests in ministry include social engagement and work with the marginalised, as well as ministry in schools.
