QUEEN’S PARK boss Dave Evans has fond memories of his club’s trip to Mold Alex last season, writes PHIL JONES.

Ahead of Saturday’s Premier Division Cup quarter-final, Evans said: “Last time we went to Mold we took 150 fans and we weren’t even playing as the result had an impact in the title race.”

Evans knows it will be a tough ask to reach the last four draw and added: “I’m not even sure of the last time Mold lost a game at home, including last season but the lads will want to react well and with the rich rewards of a semi final at stake.

“Last week the lads really let themselves down. Four yellow cards for dissent in the first 15 minutes is unacceptable.”

Curtis Neary should start for Park after an impressive debut last week.

Mold manager Mike Cunningham said: “It will be a massively difficult game for us. Queen’s Park have been the benchmark in this league over the last 12 months so we know we must be at our very best to progress.

“Rich Sanna, Lee Emberton and Lee Jones are almost definitely out through injury and I will possibly be without Tom Burrows, Ryan Coney and Kev Day but we hope to welcome Adam Renshaw back.”

League leaders Cefn Albion head to second-placed Rhostyllen in the other mouth-watering quarter-final. New Albion signing Josh Millington who joined from Penycae last week, is cup tied while Jimmy Jones, Kyle Thomas and Josh Valentine will be pushing for a start after coming off the bench last week.

Rhostyllen manager Warren Duckett said: “It will be a challenge to see how we cope without three key players in Tom Douglas, Steven Allman and Drew Wickens.”

In the Reserves and Colts League Cup, Saltney Town have home advantage over Llangollen Town.

Holywell Town’s charge towards top spot is expected to continue at bottom club Castell Alun.

The Wellmen haven’t lost any of their nine Premier Division games while the Colts are pointless after 15 straight defeats.

Boss John Haseldin said: “It’s important we continue our good form and we won’t be taking our hosts lightly.

“Competition for places is strong and everyone is pushing each other for a starting place so anything under the standards we expect won’t be accepted and the players know that.”

New signings Mike Walsh and Alec Williams look set to start but James Graham is ruled out as are Arthur Doo and Josh Coleclough for the hosts. But Richie Hamer and Rob Ward are expected to return.

Second-bottom Brickfield Rangers host Llay Welfare whose manager Mike Gadie hopes Luke Taylor, Jared Taylor, Lewis Bickerton and Matt Worrall all recover from injury in time.

Manager Andrew Dutton welcomes back Jake Gibbons and Stephen Chiocchi for the trip to Holyhead Road but key-man Paul Johnson is suspended.

Penycae head to Llanuwchllyn with boss Ben Heath hoping to unveil some new signings.

“The time is overdue for a few to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in otherwise bringing in new players will be the only option,” said Heath.
