RHYL and District maintained their seven-point cushion in Specsavers National League Division Two North with a thumping 48-0 win at Shotton.

The Dragons’ emerged from a tricky looking fixture with another pivotal victory in their quest for promotion, with a large following of supporters rewarded for making the trip with a dazzling display of attacking rugby.

With windy conditions making things difficult for both sides throughout, the visitors blew away their opponents with four tries in each half scored by Tom Jones, Reeve Wright, Will Morris, Jason Blackmore, Brad White and Tom Williams.

This was aided by four successful conversion attempts from Richie Williams to complete the scoring, and skipper Simon Johnston also played a significant role in his side’s success with a virtuoso display.

Jimmy Waring’s side have played two games more than title rivals Wrexham and Mold, so they will want no halt in momentum during their next league fixture at home to a dangerous Nany Conwy 2nds side this Saturday (2.30pm).

The Dragons have lost just once in 11 league outings so far this term, scoring a remarkable 308 points and conceding just 70.

It promises to be an exciting second half of the campaign regarding the title race, and a triumph for Nant this weekend could see them propel themselves back into the running.
