WITH the topic of 'Veganuary' on many people's lips, a restaurant in Chester is hosting its first Plant-Based Supper Club this month.

Showcasing the culinary craftsmanship of Cheshire based food consultants Rupert Worden, a classical Michelin trained and award-winning chef and serial foodie, Lisa Hinze, the event will be held at Restaurant 1539 at Chester Racecourse on January 30.

Offering an evening of both indulgence and education, Rupert and Lisa, who have catered for the likes of AO.com, Timpson, Redrow and Jo Malone, not to mention many of Cheshire’s elite, are excited to bring their wealth of industry experience along with their own personal food journey to show the guests of Chester Racecourse how interesting a plant based diet can be, and how to still make it a taste sensation.

Lisa said: “We are really excited for this event! We want to showcase how you can enjoy tasty, healthy and nutritious food, but still get the satisfaction of a hearty meal with tons of flavour. The event is perfect for foodies, those who readily practice a plant-based diet or those who are simply 'food curious' and would like to explore introducing this type of cooking into their day to day routines.”

Rupert and Lisa’s personal motivations are a blend of ethical, sustainability and health commitments. Lisa said: “We have both personally experienced the health benefits of eating plant based food with an increase in strength, stamina, and mental capacity. Therefore we realise there is an opportunity to re-educate others about what to eat and how to cook without the use of animal products. We also believe that future nourishment of the planet comes from a plant-based diet, and so we exist to demonstrate how to cook delicious meals using natural sustainable ingredients.”

Rupert added: "Turning to plant-based cooking has reignited my passion for food again! The demand for knowledge into this type of cuisine has become more and more prevalent over recent years and we hope that we can share an insight into this."

Rupert Worden originally trained at the award winning London based Leiths School of Food and Wine and continued his training at the Michelin Starred Chez Bruce.

In 2007 he started his own culinary businesses, with Lisa joining forces in 2010, initially in a finance role, and then finding her love of food and events, she quickly became a company director of ‘The Fine Dining Company’.

Lynsey Jones from Chester Racecourse said: “This is something totally new for us and our audience but something we are excited to be offering. We want to help our guests explore new experiences and this is a fabulous way to kick off the year, by being open to new foods, and focusing on our health.”

This four-course modern dining experience will include a drink and canapes on arrival followed by a mouth-watering four course menu featuring delicious dishes with a plant-based twist. Price is £49.50 per person. To book please contact the restaurant directly on 01244 304 611 or email info@restaurant1539.co.uk.
