LITTLE Sutton's community action group PALS is hoping to build on last year's successful events.

In 2019, the Scarecrow festival, local litter picks, Remembrance Sunday parade and collaborations with other groups, such as the Ellesmere Port in Bloom all encouraged more people to get involved with their community.

The Facebook group PALS – Positive Action for Little Sutton – has grown to almost 2,000 members and hopes are high for community involvement in this year's activities.

People don’t need to be a member of the group to get involved – everyone, groups especially, are welcome to join in.

Steve Hewitt from the group said: “The group is growing and people are really getting involved – in the last few months we’ve planted thousands of daffodils which are just beginning to poke through and over 400 people voted for their favourite in the Christmas Window competition.

"We really hope even more decide to get involved and help make a difference in the village this year.

"They don’t have to join the Facebook group to get involved– just come along to the events, they’re always advertised in the village notice board and other places.”

PALS, along with Little Sutton Sapphires, have arranged community litter picks on Saturday, March 7, Sunday, May 10, Saturday, July 11, Sunday, September 13 and Saturday, November 7.

The meeting point for all of them is Little Sutton Community Centre, at 10am.

Volunteers attending litter picks this year can earn ‘Time Credits’, which can later be used in participating business for a reward – including Boulder Hut, and the Holiday Inn leisure club in Ellesmere Port, skate parks, ice rinks, theatres, museums and much more slightly further afield.

The PALS group is also planning to make the Little Sutton Scarecrow Festival a regular annual event for the village – to take place in the last full week of June each year.

This year's festival will be June 21-28 and its last day will again coincide with the popular summer festival, creating an exciting community focused and fun week for all in and around the village to enjoy.
