FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze at a flat in Llanrwst in the early hours of this morning.
At 12.35am, a crew from Llandudno visited the scene on Station Road.
A spokesperson for North Wales Fire and Rescue said: "One crew from Llandudno attended a flat fire on Station Road, Llanrwst.
"The cause of the fire was believed to have been cooking left unattended and the alarm within the building did not activate.
"Two breathing apparatus' were used to extinguish the fire and the building was evacuated, although it is unknown how many people were in at the time."
The spokesperson added that the Llandudno crew in attendance ventilated the flats, as there was a lot of smoke within the building, and also carried out hot spotting on site (handing out fire safety advice to residents).
The incident was dealt with by 1.10am.
