GRANTS to help fund celebrations in Colwyn Bay area for the 75th anniversary of VE Day are up for grabs.
The town council has announced it is encouraging applications for grants of up to £200 to support the celebrations.
A council spokesperson said: “Small grant applications (of up to £200) are now being actively encouraged from organisations wanting to put on community events, activities and parties over the weekend of May 8 to 10, as part of the national VE day 75th anniversary celebrations.”
The Mayor of Colwyn Bay, cllr Neil Bastow said: “I fear with the passing of time, that if we don't remember and honour the sacrifices made by our armed services and keep at the forefront of our minds the situations that brought them about; we run the risk of making those self same mistakes again. So, anything our locality can do with these grants to remember the freedoms hard won will be great.”
