THE man who leads the nation's promotion of the Welsh language visited school children in Llangefni.

The Welsh Language Commissioner Aled Roberts came to find out about about the use of Welsh language in the area. At Ysgol y Graig he saw children learning from the commissioner's educational pack which promotes speaking Welsh to children.

Led by Menter Iaith Môn, the children took Mr Roberts and AM Rhun ap Iorwerth into Llangefni to show them places where they could speak Welsh or see the language in action, on bilingual menus and road signs. They also gave out posters and badges. Mr Roberts said: "It’s important, given the government's target to reach a million Welsh speakers by 2050, children are aware of their rights as Welsh speakers."

The pack is available from the Welsh government's HWB website.
