DESPITE rain and wind Colwyn Bay’s more than 300 school marched in Colwyn Bay’s St David’s Day parade.

The parade was led by the Mayor, cllr Neil Bastow and other town cllrs, along with David Jones MP, Darren Millar AM. Mayors from neighbouring town and community councils including Prestatyn, Kinmel Bay, Conwy, Abergele, Rhyl and Llandudno had been invited to the event.

Local schools had been working with an artist appointed through the Imagine Colwyn Bay project to develop banners and masks for the parade.

The parade, with drum accompaniment, walked along Conway Road, turned down Station Road and up Sea View Road and across Abergele Road to St Paul's Church where there was a schools' celebratory concert for invited guests held in St Paul's Church.

The schools whose children took part in the parade were Ysgol Hen Golwyn, Ysgol Swn y Don, Ysgol Bod Alaw, Ysgol Nant y Groes and Ysgol Pen y Bryn.
