DEESIDE Synchronised Ice Skating Club continues to break records across the country.

The Deeside club, representing Wales in the Beginner, Juvenile, Intermediate and Adult categories has collected a plethora of awards, accolades and medals this season.

And its last two Synchronised Skating competitions of the season, which were both internationals, proved to be no different.

They were the Trophy d’Ecosse in Dumfries, Scotland and the Steel City Trophy in Sheffield and saw the club shine once again.

The competitions saw the club pitted against several teams from across the UK and from aboard including the USA, Russia, Australia, Italy and many more from Europe - with both events being streamed live.

From the start the teams delivered with outstanding performances which continued through to their very last skate with a standing ovation in the Steel City Trophy.

Yet again the Deelites lead the way with gold in both events becoming international champions.

They blew away the competition to lead the field with the highest ever Intermediate (UK) category score.

Not to be out done, the Angels - performing an interpretation to classic musical The Sound of Music - improved upon their British score and gained an international bronze medal in Sheffield just being pipped to silver by 0.3 points, and they achieved a more than respectable fourth in Dumfries.

In their first ever international performance and competition in the beginner category the Cherubs excelled, with the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang music inspired the youngsters to a first bronze medal in Dumfries.

The adult team, the Halos, continued an impressive first season, improving on their British score and placing 10th within a highly competitive international category.

Darell Jones, club chairperson, said: “The club is going from strength to strength amongst not only the best in the UK but from across the globe, I’m privileged to be part of the journey during this historic time.

"I can only thank the skaters for trusting in themselves and their coaches with dedication and determination to produce and deliver on such an international stage.”
