THOUSANDS of pounds has been donated to a charity that supports healthcare services to buy 50 tablet PCs.

North Wales Freemasons donated £5,000 to Awyr Las after hearing that visitors are no longer allowed to visit hospitals in a bid to reduce the spread of Covid-19.

During this time, patients will be separated from their family and friends.

The tablets will help provide some comfort to patients and their families.

Nia Williams, support manager, said: "Awyr Las are extremely grateful to the Freemasonry community for the amazing support they already give to our A&E, and MIU departments across North Wales.

“This generous donation will help by using technology which will enable patients to have face-to-face communications with their loved ones using tablet PC’s.”

John Hoult, head of North Wales Freemasons, said, “Our hearts and thoughts go out to those affected by this unparalleled event.

"We cannot thank the doctors, nurses and frontline NHS staff enough during this time of crisis. We are proud to play our part in supporting our local community."
