PRESTATYN Town have failed their FAW Tier One Licence after meeting all but one of the requirements.

The JD Cymru North leaders were unable to secure a Tier One licence from the Football Association of Wales after failing to attain planning permission for a new TV gantry in time for the deadline.

All other criteria has been met by the Seasiders’ and a proposal has been submitted to Denbighshire county council regarding an upgrade on their current gantry, with the current construction not meeting requirements.

A Prestatyn Town FC spokesman, said: “The club are very disappointed to receive the news that, because we do not have the necessary planning permission in place for our new TV Gantry, we have been unsuccessful in our application for the FAW Tier One Licence. All other criteria were met as per FAW requirements.

“The Club would like to thank all who helped in the preparation and submission of the licence application and also Mr Steven Jones of the FAW for his invaluable support and advice throughout the process.”

The club are planning to appeal the FAW’s decision at the earliest opportunity as they aim to return to the JD Cymru Premier next term.

Neil Gibson’s side have enjoyed a tremendous campaign in the second tier following a number of high-profile signings last summer.

They currently sit 16 points clear of nearest rivals Flint Town United with a handful of games remaining.

“We are able to appeal the decision and will do so immediately,” added the statement.

“We have been made fully aware of the steps required for us to be successful in our appeal and will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to fulfil our obligations in order to gain the Tier One Licence, which would enable us, should we be promoted, to take our place in the JD Cymru Premier League next season.”
